Getting Started
Peregrine is designed to get you from install to a polished storefront quickly. This guide covers installation and the first-hour checklist.
Installing the theme
- In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
- Click Add theme → Upload zip file and choose the Peregrine zip. (Once Peregrine is on the Shopify Theme Store you'll be able to add it directly.)
- Peregrine appears in your theme library. Click Customize to open the theme editor and explore before publishing.
- When you're ready, click Publish to make it your live theme.
Tip: customise Peregrine as an unpublished theme first. You can preview everything, then publish when it looks right — shoppers never see the work in progress.

Ten minutes well spent: the first stage of the checklist — colour scheme, fonts, logo, menus — is what turns the demo into your store. Everything after it is refinement.
Understanding the editor
Everything in Peregrine is merchant-editable — there is no hardcoded content. Three levels to know:
- Theme settings — global: colours, fonts, buttons, social accounts, layout mode.
- Section settings — per-section: a slideshow's height, a collection list's column count.
- Blocks — repeatable items inside a section: individual slides, testimonials, promo tiles, announcement messages. Add, remove and reorder them freely.
Performance note: Peregrine only loads the CSS and JavaScript for sections actually on the page. Removing a section removes its weight entirely — your homepage gets faster as it gets simpler.
