Customer Accounts
The pages shoppers see once they have an account with you — sign in, register, order history, order detail and saved addresses. All five are built, styled with your theme colours, fonts and buttons, and need no configuration.
What's included
Peregrine ships a template for every customer page Shopify can send a shopper to:
- Login — email and password, a Forgot your password? link that reveals the recovery form on the same page (no second page to load), and a link through to registration.
- Register — first name, last name, email and password.
- Account — the shopper's order history with a link into each order, alongside their default address.
- Order — a full order detail page: line items, quantities and prices, discounts both per line (each discount named, with the original price struck through) and order-wide, shipping and billing addresses, fulfilment status and, where an order has been cancelled, the reason.
- Addresses — add, edit, delete and set a default address, with the full address form including company, province and country.
- Activate account and Reset password — the two pages Shopify's own emails link to.
Turning accounts on
Whether shoppers see any of this is a Shopify setting rather than a theme one, so it is switched on in two places:
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Customer accounts.
- Choose whether accounts are required, optional or off. Optional is the usual choice for a shop — it lets people check out as guests but keeps order history for those who sign up.
- Open the theme editor and check Header → Show account icon is on. It is on by default.
- View your storefront. The account icon sits beside the cart on desktop and mobile — Shopify's own component, so it includes passwordless Shop sign-in without any setup from you.
If the icon does not appear, accounts are still off in Shopify. The theme switch cannot show an account icon for a store that has no accounts — with accounts off it renders nothing, whatever the switch says.
Shopify offers two versions of customer accounts — classic and new. The templates described here are the classic ones, which are the pages a theme controls. With new customer accounts, Shopify hosts the account area itself on its own domain and styles it from your brand settings, so these templates aren't used — that's Shopify's design, not a gap in the theme. Login, register and order pages under classic accounts are all yours.
Styling
There are no per-page settings, and that's deliberate: these pages inherit everything from Theme settings — colours, fonts, button shape and padding, border radius and container width. Restyle the theme and the account pages follow. Forms use the same input styling and focus rings as the rest of the theme, so they stay keyboard-accessible and visible against every palette.
Every label on these pages comes from your language file, so they translate with the rest of the store: Online Store → Themes → … → Edit default theme content, under Customer.
